OPERA
The Truman State University Opera Program performs one production each year, usually in the spring semester. Productions of fully-costumed (light) operas with orchestra as well as opera scenes have been recently performed. Scenes showcases typically contain both operatic and musical theatre selections spanning Baroque, classical, romantic, and modern eras. Past productions include: Ching’s Speed Dating Tonight!, Mozart’s Impresario, Rogers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific, Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, Donizetti’s Il Campanello, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
MUSICAL THEATRE
The Theatre Department at Truman offers a variety of experiences for students, encompassing all aspects of theatrical production. Each year, at least one musical theatre production is produced. Past productions include: the Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Lightning Thief, Falsettos, Seussical, Little Women, Spring Awakening, and Next to Normal.
APPLIED LESSONS
Truman offers applied voice lessons to all vocal music majors, music minors, musical theatre minors, and other interested students on a space available basis.
